OUR MISSION: Broussard’s Cajun Cuisine has always been and should continue to be a
laid-back, imaginative, food and beverage service company. Our aim is to offer authentic,
high-quality, reasonably priced foods originating from the bayous of Southwest Louisiana,
as well as all-American standards. We consider ourselves partners with our customers
as we strive to proudly represent the Historic Downtown District of our community. Our
goal is to continue building our already regionally recognized name, while capitalizing on
the enduring interest in Cajun cuisine and the need for a place where "everybody knows
your name." We seek moderate growth, annual profitability, and an appreciative attitude
to our customers.
OUR HISTORY: In 1986 Mr. Barron T. Broussard and his wife, Kathy, arrived in Cape
Girardeau from Crowley, Louisiana with the desire to bring the bayou to the Midwest. For
those of you who know or remember Barron or Kathy, it is easy to see how Broussard's
quickly gained its reputation as a fun, friendly, easy-going establishment. Barron sold the
business to Mr. Dennis Stockard in 1991. The operation immediately became what was
referred to as a "Stockard Store" in terms of professionalism and customer appreciation;
but Barron's unique atmosphere remained -- and very few changes were made. Upon his
retirement in 1997, Dennis transferred ownership of the restaurant to his son, Shawn.
Shawn Stockard did an outstanding job marketing Broussard's to build much stronger
ties with the local university students. This strategy helped attract a younger clientele
while still catering to the original customer base.
OUR PRESENT: In February 2004, Broussard's was purchased from Shawn by Hunter and
Stephanie Clark. They have maintained the wonderfully unique qualities for which
Broussard's gained its popularity and are building upon the achievements of the former
owners. On June 10, 2006, Broussard's Cajun Cuisine celebrated its 20th Birthday!
